Patrick Shaunessy is the Senior Director of Transactional Products at ClearyX, where he leads the development and delivery of innovative products and new models of due diligence that leverage technology to transform traditional workflows and enhance client service.
Prior to joining ClearyX, Patrick spent seven years in product innovation at a leading legal tech company, where he served as a key conduit between legal practice and product development. In this capacity, he translated complex legal workflows into user stories, directed product roadmaps, and conducted comprehensive market research on AI and legal tech adoption.
A dual-licensed attorney (Ontario & New York) and CFA Charterholder, Patrick brings a distinctive combination of legal, financial, and technical expertise to his role. Before moving into legal technology, he practiced tax law for four years at a leading Canadian firm, advising on high-value transactions in M&A, securities, corporate finance, and private equity.
Patrick has been a thought leader at the intersection of AI and legal ethics, including presenting at a major industry conference on ethical considerations in emerging AI applications for legal practice. His published work includes “A Matter of Choice: Rethinking Legal Formalism’s Account of Private Law Rights,” which appeared in the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies. He holds a BA in classics and philosophy from Dalhousie University and a JD/MBA from Western University.
