Nicole Heelan

Analyst/Employment Services Lead

Nicole joined ClearyX as an Analyst and the Employment Services Lead. In this hybrid role, she assists deal teams with due diligence review, and seeks to find innovative and efficient solutions to employment law challenges. Nicole’s exceptional communication skills, creative thinking and client-centered approach make her an invaluable asset to ClearyX.

Before joining ClearyX, Nicole worked at a leading Canadian regional law firm where she focused on labor and employment matters. She provided guidance to employers across sectors on employment agreements, policies and procedures, human rights, workplace accommodations and terminations. Nicole routinely conducted workplace investigations on a wide range of issues, including allegations of harassment. She was also a member of the team retained by the Mass Casualty Commission to assist with document management and review. In 2019, Nicole won Gold in The Star: Halifax Reader’s Choice Awards in the category of “Best Employment Lawyer.”

Nicole holds a BA from Acadia University, an MA from Western University, and a JD from the University of New Brunswick. During her MA, Nicole worked as a teaching assistant and taught an undergraduate French course. Her work as a teaching assistant earned her a place on Western University’s Teaching Honor Roll for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Nicole divides her time between Halifax, Nova Scotia and San Francisco, California and is actively engaged in both communities. In Nova Scotia, she served on the boards of the Kingsburg Coastal Conservancy and the Nova Scotia Talent Trust and volunteered at the Nova Scotia Supreme Court Free Legal Clinic. In San Francisco, Nicole volunteers for the San Francisco-Marin Foodbank. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys reading, learning about art, and spending time in nature with her dogs.
