About the Role

ClearyX is an independently operated subsidiary of Cleary Gottlieb, a preeminent global law firm with 16 offices on four continents. ClearyX is focused on building alternative models of legal services through innovative combinations of people, technology and process discipline. We are a team of forward-thinking subject matter experts, project managers and technologists working to innovate and improve how legal services are delivered and experienced.

We value a positive, solutions-orientated mindset. We are a fully remote team, and every team member contributes to our success by delivering exceptional work product, maintaining energy and enthusiasm for building our business, and constantly looking for ways to improve our effectiveness and our clients’ experience. We welcome those who want something different from a traditional legal career, but with the training and expertise to ensure we deliver high quality work to support our clients.

We take a collaborative approach to our work, and you must be open to learning and adopting new technologies and approaches. We require excellent communication skills; an ability to exercise judgment and juggle multiple/competing priorities; good problem solving skills; entrepreneurial spirit; and the ability to apply a process-orientated approach to our work.

We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead the migration of core IT systems and, once the migration is complete, to manage and continuously improve those systems on an ongoing basis.

The IT Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering the migration of key IT systems. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines project delivery with long-term operational management. Once migration is complete, the role will shift to overseeing day-to-day IT operations, managing the helpdesk function, and ensuring the security, reliability, and performance of all migrated systems.

Responsibilities

    • Email – Migration of mailboxes, distribution lists, calendars, and archival data
    • Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 – Licensing, tenant configuration, and user provisioning
    • Information Security – Establishment of independent security policies, controls, and tooling
    • Front-Line Support (Helpdesk) – Transition of support processes, ticketing systems, and knowledge bases
  • Develop and maintain a detailed migration project plan, including timelines, milestones, risk registers, and contingency plans
  • Coordinate with partner IT team to ensure a smooth and cooperative handover of systems and data
  • Manage third-party vendors and consultants involved in the migration
  • Ensure minimal disruption to business operations throughout the migration process
  • Establish testing and validation procedures to confirm successful migration of all systems and data
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues to senior leadership and stakeholders on a regular basis

Phase 2 – Ongoing Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of all migrated IT systems and infrastructure
  • Manage and develop the IT helpdesk team, ensuring high-quality front-line support for all users
  • Own the information security posture of the organization, including policy development, incident response, vulnerability management, and compliance
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and licensing agreements
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards
  • Plan and manage the IT budget, including forecasting for future technology needs
  • Drive continuous improvement of IT services and systems, identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and enhanced user experience
  • Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place and regularly tested
  • Stay current with technology trends and make recommendations for system enhancements and new capabilities.

  • Strong project management skills, with formal certification preferred (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile/Scrum qualifications)
  • Experience working in a legal, professional services, or regulated environment is highly desirable

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build, motivate, and develop a high-performing IT team
