Cleary Gottlieb, a preeminent global law firm with 17 offices on four continents, created ClearyX, a separate business unit within the firm, to focus on building alternative models of legal services. ClearyX uses a unique combination of technology, people and process to create efficient, high quality legal services and products to support the firm and its clients.
ClearyX is seeking to hire a Director of Financial Operations who will be responsible for ClearyX’s global financial operations including accounting, compliance, treasury management, payables and receivables management, banking, billing, and collections. This role requires someone interested in a diverse portfolio for a young but growing business with operations in Canada, the US and increasingly likely expansion in the UK, Europe, and Asia.
Initially, the Director will assist the business in establishing our financial management processes, banking, cash management, governance, and tracking and reporting systems. Once established, the incumbent will handle all day to day financial and accounting functions. As this is a new role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and defining objectives and metrics over time.

This is a very hands-on position, requiring a confident, self-starting collaborator with the ability to create and manage a finance and accounting function from the ground up. The successful candidate will need to have relevant experience and capabilities, leadership capabilities, and possess a practical approach to problem solving. The ability to build collegial and trusting relationships with co-workers and other stakeholders is critical to success.
